Reptile Youth

Reptile and Retard are changing their name to REPTILE YOUTH
Meanwhile, the duo Mads Damsgaard and Esben Valløe are putting a finishing touch on their debut album and will be playing at By:larm and Eurosonic in the beginning of next year.
REPTILE AND RETARD have great international recognition through their live performances. After their latest concert in Tokyo, Robert Michael Poole, said: ''Reptile and Retard brought the Club to its boiling point. I have worked here for six years now and I know how restrained - reserved even - the Japanese audience can be. That's why it was particularly cool to see the effect Reptile and Retard's show had on them. As the night progressed and the other bands went on to play, Retard and Reptile had - in my opinion - been the ultimate finishing act. But as least now the audience was pumped right from the beginning.''
This year, they’ve played at places like Reeperbahn Festival (DE), Montreux Jazz Festival (CH), Waves Vienna (AU), Sonic Visions (LUX), Unit Tokyo (JP) and Roskilde Festival (DK), where danish magazine Soundvenue gave the concert five out of six stars.
Besides playing concerts all over Europe, the band has spent the summer and fall recording their long-awaited debut album. The album has primarily been recorded in London with the two star producers Mark Ralph, who is producing Hot Chip's coming album and Dave M. Allen, who has produced Sisters of Mercy, Human League and the most of The Cure's records.
''The album captures exactly that same madness and dynamic that the band masters on stage - which was the biggest success criteria for the production phase." says the Danish producer Kasper Bjørke. He's the man behind discovering and developing the star talent Oh Land. Bjørke acts as A&R and executive producer on REPTILE YOUTH'S debut album.
The recording process manifested a attitude in the band's sound, which now is even more punk and organic. The REPTILE YOUTH name change is an expression for the natural evolvement that has taken place, since that band started as a duo in 2009: From 2012, people can expect a completely new live setup, which has been expanded with both a guitarist and a new setup. The premier of this new setup takes place at Eurosonic, for which REPTILE YOUTH has just been confirmed.
Other than Eurosonic, you can catch the band at By:larm in Oslo and venues all across Europe. Negations with several interested international live agents and record labels are still in progress. The release date has not yet been set, but REPTILE YOUTH’s first single and debut album will be released during summer of 2012.
